Leo leonards PDL Mustang II

The PDL Mustang II was built by PDL staff and friends in the workshop of PDL racing in Christchurch. Its stunning appearance for the era was backed up by its performance as Timaru driver Leo Leonard blitzed the opposition and set lap records throughout the country. When it last raced competitively in 1979 it held the outright saloon car lap records at Pukekohe, Bay Park, Manfeild, Wigram, Ruapuna, Timaru and Teretonga. The engine is of six litres capacity (366 cu inches), based on one of the rare aluminium Cleveland blocks and developed 540 bhp. A truly great iconic NZ race car!
